Instagram Reels and Shop Tabs – In a post published by Head of Instagram’s Adam Mosseri, the company announced the introduction of Instagram Reels and Shop tabs.
Instagram launched Reels a few months ago to compete with TikTok’s short-video platform.
It also benefited from some controversies TikTok raised about the handling of data, which led to the app being banned from India (Reels was promptly released ahead of time in this market) and being forced to sell its US operations.
Instagram Shopping got an update in August 2020 with the aim of making it easy for people to shop and sell online.

The Instagram reels tab is right in the middle of the bottom navigation.
By clicking on it, you will be taken to a TikTok-style video experience, where you can scroll down to move to the next video.
The Instagram Shop tab is right next to the Reels one. If you click on it, you will be taken to a selection of Instagram Shops.
You can browse through shops, explore guides and check out collections.
